¢, American-Casual, Hilton Head Island
Fodor's Review:
Mornings find locals rolling in for the deep-dish French toast, crispy polenta, and whole-wheat waffles. For 34 years, European-born Signe has been feeding islanders soups (the chilled cucumber has pureed watermelon, green apples, and mint), curried chicken salad, and loaded hot and cold sandwiches. The beach bag ($10 for a cold sandwich, pasta or fresh fruit, chips, a beverage, and cookie) is a great deal. The key-lime bread pudding is amazing, as are the melt-in-your mouth cakes and the rave-worthy breads, especially the Italian ciabatta. Dine in the new room, with original art by -- who else? -- Signe.
