This former Dairy Queen is now a no- frills counter-and-booth diner. The service is attentive, but the waitresses don't call you hon. The food, soulfully prepared, includes a fried eggplant-and-blue-cheese sandwich, Cajun-style meat loaf, and chili served in a sundae glass with sour cream and a cherry tomato on top.

This is the kind of place that we like to keep for ourselves. Nothing on the menu is expensive and it is all excellent. The menu will challenge you to try a new adventures every visit. When they have it, the stuffed flounder is perfection.
