Houses / Mansions, Germantown and Chestnut Hill
Fodor's Review:
One of the most charming of Quaker-style houses, Wyck sheltered nine generations of the Wistar-Haines family between the 1690s and 1973. Their accumulated original furnishings are on display, along with ceramics, children's needlework, dolls, and other signs that this was a happy home. Outside is a garden of old roses, dating to the 1820s. Known as the oldest house in Germantown, Wyck was used as a British field hospital after the Battle of Germantown. The home was expanded over the years; its current form dates to 1824, when William Strickland made alterations.
