Fodor's Review:
Oozing style and just a touch of snobbery, the Gansevoort is a shining beacon in the trendy Meatpacking District. The rooftop deck is the place to be, and not only for the free breakfast: there's a heated 45-foot pool, myriad terraces, and a swank lounge filled with late-night scene-seekers. Sleek, sexy rooms have sweeping views of the city or the Hudson River; slate-and-marble bathrooms have unique showers that double as steam rooms. Original New York-centric artwork, including Warhols and local gallery pieces, hangs in rooms and hallways. Downstairs, the Japanese-influenced restaurant Ono has a vibrant Asian interior and a large outdoor bar and lounge space. G-Spa, a full-service spa and salon, morphs into G-Lounge weekend nights. Pros: bastion of style; great salon; rooftop pool; wonderful art collection; great location near great restaurants. Cons: highly fashion conscious clientele; bar-restaurant always packed.
