Florent

$-$$, Bistro, Meatpacking District

User Rating: **** 4.4

Fodor's Review:

When it's 4 AM and a slice of pizza just won't cut it, head to Florent, a true restaurant pioneer in the Meatpacking District. Open 24 hours, this brushed-steel-and-Formica diner is always a blast -- expect loud music, drag queens, and members of every walk of city life. The simple French menu features decent versions of everything you crave -- onion soup, mussels steamed in white wine, and pâtés as well as inventive dishes like grilled chicken with merguez sausage couscous. From midnight on, you can also order from a full breakfast menu.

Fun and a bit of history

Florent was the avant garde of restaurants in the meat packing district. The food is good typical bistro fare. Decent prices and very casual atmosphere. They do take reservations. We were there on a Satuday evening and it filled up at about 8 PM. There is great energy but you can still talk with others at your table without raising your voice. Maybe later the noise level might rise a little. Visit their wacky website at www.reataurantflorent.com This place is a bit of history
