Bryant Park Hotel

$$$-$$$$, Midtown West

User Rating: *** 3.3

Fodor's Review:

This sleekly modern hotel was fashioned from the bones of the former American Radiator Building towering over the New York Public Library and Bryant Park. Rooms are minimalist chic with sumptuous travertine bathrooms, hardwood floors with Tibetan rugs, and killer views. Since it's at the apex of Fashion Week activities, expect a designer-filled crowd and a runway feel in the stark red lobby. Both the restaurant, Koi, and bars here are popular with the after-work crowd.

Trendy and Great Location

Posted by Jaie from Philadelphia on 2/18/08

The location is absolutely perfect: Times Square, MoMa, MoSex, 5th Avenue, restaurants and bars were nearby. The service was very good. The doormen and other staff were responsive and friendly. The room was a good size for a hotel room. The bed wasn't too comfortable although the sheets were nice (320). The floors are hardwood and creaky which means we heard other people walking around. The overall look is chic. The Cellar Bar has an interesting vibe and we did not go but we have heard good reviews about Koi (decent food, good atmosphere. The weaknesses were minor and we look forward to staying there again.

Great Location - Bad Service

Posted by Lucy from Oklahoma City on 5/3/06

This hotel has a perfect location....just minutes aways from 5th Avenue shopping and Times Square, but away from the hustle and bustle of the busy streets. That's the good news. The bad news is the room and the apathetic service. The mattress felt like I was literally sleeping on the floor. The shower drain was clogged and the toilet ran at all hours of the night. After phoning the front desk, twice, I was told the issue would be fixed, twice. Never was. After I repeated my trouble to the front desk at check out day, I was given the response, "Oh". I didn't expect them to beg for forgiveness, but an apology would have been sufficient. If great service is a must for you, stay away from this place.
