$-$$$, Contemporary, Ranchos de Taos
Fodor's Review:
Colorful paintings of Southwest scenes, a covered, fenced-in patio, impeccable service and an imaginative menu have made the Trading Post a favorite spot in Ranchos. The beef carpaccio appetizer and signature chicken-noodle soup are both exceptional, and the oven-roasted half duck and New Zealand lamb chops with tomato-mint sauce both make superb main dishes. Flan or homemade raspberry sorbet makes a fine finish. To park, turn east onto NM 518 (Talpa Road) just north of the restaurant, and then walk back along Talpa Road to get to the entrance.
