Map of Treasure Island Las Vegas (TI)

The jury is still out on Treasure Island's decision to pursue a trendy, younger crowd by nicknaming itself TI, but most signs suggest this rebranding of sorts is a fairly solid success. Gone are the distinctive skull-and-crossbones outdoor sign and the indoor pirate theme. Fronting the resort is a huge body of water -- called Siren's Cove instead of Buccaneer Bay -- that is the crux of the new TI. Instead of pirates and sailors duking it out, sexy sirens lure pirates into the cove in a kitschy show with pop music. We think the best assets of TI are Mystère, a Cirque du Soleil show, and the popular nightclub-burlesque bar Tangerine. It's a decent choice if you're looking for a party vibe in the middle of the Strip. But TI has also added a handful of excellent restaurants in recent years, making it much more of a destination among foodies. A short, free tram ride connects to the Mirage next door.

  • 1. Isla Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar

Like tequila? This is the place to be with more than 20 to choose from. If you're looking to splurge, try the $99 Goddess Elixir margarita.

  • 2. Mystère

It's the best example of the original Cirque concept and keeps the action close so you're intimately involved in the surreal wonderland.

  • 3. Sirens of TI

A raunchy battle between buxom Sirens and renegade pirates -- need we say more?

  • Dishes

It may not look like the other buffets in town, but the food here is finger-licking good: North Carolina-style barbeque pork, house-made donuts.
