The West Side

Map of The West Side

Due west of the Strip, on the other side of I-15, are the Palms, Rio, and the Orleans. The drawbacks? It's not a very glamorous section of town, the walk to the Strip is dull, and you'll be cabbing or driving to and from the Strip. But the views of the Strip from east-facing rooms are spectacular.

At a Glance

  • 1. The Artisan Lounge

This not-yet-well-known favorite of ours serves as a tonic to the usual Vegas nightlife lunacy.

  • 2. Rosemary's

It caters to locals, but its phenomenal reputation and American regional menu has earned it quite a following among visiting food snobs. Order the white-cheddar grits.

  • 3. Scores

It's not called Sin City for nothing. Some favorites: Déjà Vu Showgirls, Men's Club, Minxx, and Scores.

  • The Palms

The city's first true luxury boutique hotel is home to a killer pool scene, outrageous nightlife (only place to find the bunnies), and great food.

  • The Illusionary Magic of Rick Thomas

It's rare for an afternoon show to offer big production values, but Thomas generates repeat business by offering outsize illusions at bargain prices.
