Hawaiian Marketplace

Shopping Centers / Malls, South Las Vegas

Fodor's Review:

Modeled after the International Marketplace in Waikiki, this shopping venture re-creates a refreshing Polynesian village with indigenous Hawaiian flora under a banyan tree and a huge, shady canopy. This place is abuzz with activity. Animatronic birds chirp as you shop in the Enchanted Garden (an area festooned with tropical flora and fauna); after an hourly thunder-and-lightning storm rolls through, they warble Hawaiian songs. Las Vegas-based island-born performers entertain with traditional dancing, storytelling, and crafts. Cart retailers proffer accessories, souvenirs, and T-shirts from grass-thatch huts and kiosks. A 17-foot-tall statue of King Kamehameha (the great 1700s king who united the Hawaiian Islands) oversees the whole lively scene. If you're driving, the best place to park is behind Travelodge, adjacent to the Marketplace.
