Cathay House

¢-$, Chinese, The West Side

User Rating: ***** 4.6

Fodor's Review:

Set in a strip mall of popular Asian eateries and businesses, Cathay House is a bit of a rarity in Las Vegas -- a restaurant that has the feel of a mom-and-pop operation, but with a sophisticated, if rather bright, atmosphere and a menu of varied traditional Chinese favorites. It's one of the best places in town for dim sum, as well as Imperial Peking duck dinner; among other local favorites are the squid with black bean sauce; honey-glazed barbecue ribs; and strawberry chicken.

Best Chinese Food West of San Francisco

While it's always a little dicey to try chinese restaurants, (especially if you aren't familiar with the many dishes) Cathay House give the novice great opportunity to try dim sum. This is great as each dish is usually only a couple of dollars each, and carts come by frequently with different delicacies for sale. Very flavorful and as good of chinese food as anything I've tried outside San Francisco or Vancouver.
