Fodor's Review:

Immaculate, upscale but not outlandishly priced rooms are done with an elegant South Seas theme and botanical prints; they all have antiquey-looking custom-made desks and marble entryways, and suites are decked in imported silks and hand-loomed carpets. Bathrooms have marble accents and sumptuous appointments but tend toward the small side. Rooms with incredible views of the Strip and the volcano cost a bit more, but you can sometimes get a free upgrade if you request one at check-in. Several upscale restaurants, including STACK and Japonais, have helped give the Mirage an impressive slate of both high-end and casual eateries.

The Casino. The casino has high minimums (such as $500 slots and a plush private pit where the minimum bet is $1,000), ionospheric maximums, and an overall atmosphere of sophisticated fun. The property's makeover got rid of the pretentious trappings in the High Limit Lounge and Baccarat Lounge, opting for a cool modern look with blue backlighting behind the service bars. The poker room is huge and bustling, more about volume and energy than the subdued, high-limit atmosphere at the Bellagio.

The focal point of the casino is the lush tropical garden that leads into the main area. Where else in town can you sit at a slot machine and breathe in fresh air and second-hand smoke? But the Polynesian theme overall has been toned down, with some of the new restaurants opening out to the casino to provide more visual interest. The hip STACK restaurant, for instance, took its design motif from Red Rock Canyon. A new lounge, Revolution, carries the Beatles theme of the Love show into a mini-nightclub for pre- and postshow gatherings. The race and sports book at the south end is full of giant screens that resemble NASA's mission control. The overall effect is exceptionally energizing.

My second home

Posted by Krash35 from WIndsor Locks, CT on 8/21/07

I have stayed at the Mirage twice now, once in a 1 bedroom tower suite, and once in a 2 bedroom tower suite. I have to admit, when I first walked into my room, I was a little hesitant. The decor is a little bit outdated as I'm sure you've heard. HOWEver, within an hour of being in the hotel, I didn't want to ever leave (and it wasn't the alcohol talking). Not to mention that they are remodeling all of the rooms, correcting the only downfall of the hotel. The service is impeccable. You can ask for anything, anytime, and you will be accomodated. We had a little plumbing issue in the shower (which was actually my fault), and received a free night for our troubles, which would have cost around $500. The sheets have to be around 800 thread count, and the maids were amazing. Being in Vegas makes even the neatest of people slobs after a night of gambling and drinking. Every time we would come back to our room,it would be spotless. The bathroom is huge, big glass shower, jacuzzi tub, not to mention the private bidet and toilet. They are in separate rooms so u can be in the bathroom while someone else is in the shower. Well stocked fridge, bar, great sound system, pop up t.v., and the Mirage is probably one of the cheapest of the upscale hotels. Their prices are very reasonable in comparison. Anyway, the moral of the story is STAY AT THE MIRAGE! You will not be sorry. If you do, you HAVE to check out the Cirque LOVE show, Beatles fan or not. One of the most inspiring uplifting shows you'll ever see. Absolutely great, and I have pretty high standards. The dealers were all very friendly, people at the tables were friendly, it truly was just a great experience. The New York deli was delicious, California Pizza Kitchen is delicious. The views are great if you ask for a strip view room. The only thing I regretted was leaving when I did...Leo DiCaprio was at the pool the next day!!!!!!! Sigh....I can't wait to go back! ENJOY!!!

Tower Suites Rock!!!

Posted by Barb from Scottsdale AZ on 10/30/05

Got a special deal for one of the exclusive Tower Suites for the first night which was $279, then we stayed over the weekend and the rates jumped to $475 a night. Overall it was a wonderful suite, not quite worth $475, but well worth the $279 rate. We would go back again if they ran a discounted rate.
