$-$$$, Italian, New York-New York Hotel and Casino
Fodor's Review:
Cross the Central Park footbridge inside the wonderfully quirky New York-New York Hotel and Casino, and you come to Il Fornaio, a cheery and bright Italian café. You can dine "outdoors" beneath old-fashioned street lamps, on a terrace by the meandering lagoon, or at a table inside. Cooks in an exhibition kitchen prepare fresh fish, wood-oven pizzas, spinach linguine with shrimp, and gnocchi with sausage, onions, mushrooms, tomato cream sauce, and Parmesan. Very good breads (including delicious ciabatta) are baked twice daily, and you can buy loaves to go. For breakfast, choose from French toast, a selection of omelets, and cholesterol-free eggs.
