Wynn Las Vegas

$$$-$$$$, Wynn Las Vegas

User Rating: **** 4.1

Fodor's Review:

Decked out with replicas of pieces from Steve Wynn's acclaimed art collection, the princely rooms, averaging a whopping 650 square feet, offer spectacular views through wall-to-wall floor-to-ceiling windows. Rest your head at night on custom pillow-top beds with 320-thread-count linens, and stay plugged into the world with cordless phones -- bedside drapery and climate controls are another nice touch. The superposh Tower Suites Parlor and Salon units have use of a separate pool and lanai and have such opulent amenities as granite wet bars, separate powder rooms, 42-inch flat-screen TVs, and walk-in closets. Even relatively minor touches, such as richly appointed armchairs with ottomans and giant, fluffy Turkish towels, speak to the sheer sumptuousness of this place.

The Casino. The bad news-good news on the Wynn casino depends on how much money you come with. You'll see $500-minimum blackjack tables on the regular casino floor, not just inside the high-rollers casino (which is adjacent to a casino lounge). If you can pony up the cash for tables with a $100 buy-in or higher, though, you'll have some of the best rules possible. During the day or early evening, you can find $15 tables, but they're dealt from a shoe or automatic card shuffler. Lest you dismiss Wynn Las Vegas as completely snooty, rest assured that a healthy number of one-cent slots are out in a prominent area, not shuffled off to some remote corner. It may also surprise you that the coin games have some of the best pay schedules in town, and the Red Card player's club has generous sign-up bonuses. The multilevel poker room unfolds near the exotic car dealership, and there's a nice bar area next to the sports book, where plush chairs line the individual viewing cubicles augmenting the usual big-screen TVs.

A NO GO; the Wynn buffet

Posted by mvexler from Florida on 4/5/08

The setting is nice, however not as opulent as Bellagio’s buffet. Wynn’s buffet lacks a theme, and frankly some good cooking. There is a mix of almost everything, but each sample is small. For example, you got 3-4 Italian dishes including pizza, and 5 Chinese dishes, a few middle-eastern dishes, and a little bit of sea-food. The quality of the food is low and there is nothing that you cannot find at a buffet which is priced at half of the $35 you pay at Wynn. The desserts bar is poor, except for good ice-cream. Most of foods were not cooked properly. For example, pork chops were hard and rubbery, and the beef roast was raw; the guy next to me in line asked for it to be microwaved so he can eat it. When the waitress came around we told her about the problems we see with the quality and variety of the buffet, and she brought in the manager. After some ‘customer satisfaction’ talk that we will do everything for you to be satisfied, my wife asked for crepes. His answer was ‘we cannot do it, this is a Friday and Saturday night dish’. He offered no refund, and just paid lip service. My advice…go to Bellagio for the same money, or choose a place like Sahara or Planet Hollywood.

Tops in Vegas

Posted by acasey from Pennsylvania on 2/17/08

I've stayed at the Wynn several times over the past year for business and pleasure and it has exceeded my expectations. From the bed in the room, the cleanliness of the casino, no smoke, dining options, none compare. We tryed staying at the Bellagio last fall and were so disappointed we tried to move our reservation to the Wynn the day we checked in. The SW Steakhouse is the best steak house we've ever eaten at, with a great wine selection. The pool is nicely layed out and the service is fairly quick. I've tried the Four Season, Paris, and the Bellagio, and this is my favorite by far.

The Best and Beyond

Posted by geofiscus from Phoenix on 8/27/07

We have stayed at the Tower Suites at The Wynn three times. SUPERB is the only word for the experience. Fantastic staff, excellent meals at Okada, Daniel Boulard, even the poolside Kobe Beef cheeseburger is worth every penny! Blows everything else in Vegas off the map. The private pool and check in for Tower Suite guests is worth every penny. Rooms are elegant, large, beautiful views and well serviced. When can we go back??!!!!

perfect but don't use the hairsalon

Posted by Lionel22 from London on 6/6/07

The hotel is perfect, everything works really well, is beautiful and the service is great. However, do not use the hairsalon as it is not up to Wynn's standard, substandard hairdressers and rude managers rule a salon that is fit for a third rate suburb but not at those prices...really a shame and a flaw in the otherwise perfect Wynn Hotel.

Loved it!

Posted by wherestheparty from USA on 5/14/07

The Wynn is a beautiful hotel. Our room was spacious with all the amenities. Very large and luxurious bathroom with thick towels and TV. Beautiful view from the room through floor to ceiling windows. Casino was beautiful but with a high minimum on tables. Restaurants were great and pool was beautiful. Staff members were incredibly helpful and polite.

Never again...

Posted by Victor from Houston Texas on 4/27/06

My fiance & I had spent months planning our wedding at the Wynn. We booked & payed for our suite 10 weeks in advance, in addition to having 8 other rooms booked. After sending out invitations with details regarding the Wynn, we recieved a call ststing that they would NOT honor our reervation for the suite because someone else wanted to use this suite for a wediing that same night!!! Sure they offered a lesser room, not free, just the option to settle for a smaller room that would not hold our 20 invited guests. When we gotrightfully PISSED, they explained that "that's just how Vegas works & we're not gonna feel bad about how we do business...so tough luck guys"... We will never consider any of Steve Wynns' properties, ever again & will take every opportunity to tell anyone who'll listen how poorly we were treated by Wynn Las Vegas...

Nice, but the rooms are not soundproof!

Posted by Matt from San Diego CA on 1/29/06

I stayed here a few weeks ago, and everything was good except for two major things, the walls are paper thin. I could hear my neighbors television all night, and if you decide to take a bath and fill the garden tub, it sounds like a major waterfall, it was very very loud. I was on the 34th floor, and when the live show in front of the Treasure Island started it sounded like something exploded, I was shocked that a $300.00 a night room would have soundproof issues, but this one did.

Most luxe rooms in Vegas

Posted by Diane from Tucson on 1/13/06

in October '05we read all the reviews we could get our hands on and were a bit apprehensive when we arrived. We needn't have been. Check-in was a breeze; the room was better than the Venetian or Bellagio. When you walk in and see the floor to ceiling, wall to wall windows, you know you're in the right place! The sheers and draperies operate on a remote next to a plush bed that's the best I've ever had in a spa or hotel. At night you're treated to a water/video show on their giant waterfall...all watched from a bed that's been turned down for you with a mat placed by each side of the bed...complete with complimentary slippers. I felt very pampered. My husband loved the plasma/LCD TV, including the one in the bathroom. We didn't do much gambling but are going back this month for another 2 comp nights.

The Best Hotel in Las Vegas

Posted by Bill from San Francisco CA on 1/7/06

I've stayed at the Bellagio, Venetian, and The Four Seasons and Wynn has them all beat. Rooms have the nicest bathrooms i've seen, plasma TV's, and top of the line towels and sheets. Rates on the weekend are a bit steep ($300 a night), but you get what you pay for.

A Wynning experience at Wynn Las Vegas

Posted by mark from Las Vegas on 10/27/05

To say the least, my stay at Wynn Las Vegas was great. The rooms are very spacious and the beds were the best beds I have ever slept on. Every room has flat screen TV's in the room and in the bathroom. The Wynn also had a good selection of restaurants; you have to try the buffet... the food is great and it's probably one of the nicest buffets in Vegas. I also got a chance to see Le Reve and it was alright. Over all , my experince at Wynn Las Vegas was memorable and I really enjoyed it. I plan to return again later in the year. I highly recomend the hotel to you as you should have a excelent as I did.
