Of the 2 million annual visitors to Glacier, the vast majority drive through the gates between July 1 and September 15, when Going-to-the-Sun Road is plowed free of snow, providing visitors with spectacular vistas. Spring and fall are the quiet seasons, but they're becoming increasingly popular. By October, snow forces the closing of most park roads.
Snow removal on the alpine portion of Going-to-the-Sun Road is usually completed by mid-June, and the opening of Logan Pass at the road's summit marks the summer opening of Glacier.
