More than 2,800 animals from about 300 species live uncaged in natural habitats at the Detroit Zoo. Highlights include a large penguinarium, a walk-through aviary with tropical birds and plants, and a wildlife interpretive gallery with a butterfly house. Don't miss the Arctic Ring of Life exhibit, with polar bears and seals in a simulated habitat; an underwater tunnel gives you the chance to see the animals swim overhead.

"...300 species live uncaged in natural habitats..." Says who?! There are fewer animals at this zoo than any zoo I've ever visited. The gardens were nice,however,as were the people. Why are there no animals?RATING: 1.4
Great zoo for your little critters

Great zoo for little kids. Good exhibits, easy parking (at least on early weekday morning). Neat bronze statues in park to take pictures on. Overall a great time despite cool wet weather.RATING: 5.0
