The Cape Cod Baseball League, considered the country's best summer league, is scouted by all the major-league teams. Ten teams play a 44-game season from mid-June to mid-August; admission is free to games at all 10 fields, although donations are accepted. The teams also conduct baseball clinics for children and teens.

In the Plymouth area, the Myles Standish State Forest has 15 mi of bike trails. Fall River and New Bedford are predominantly urban areas that are not well suited for cyclists, but nearby, many local roads in Westport and South Dartmouth are pleasant biking spots. In the New Bedford suburb of Fairhaven, the Phoenix bike trail is a 3.3-mi rail trail that begins at the intersection of Ferry and Main streets. It runs east to the Mattapoisett town line.
Despite the heavy summertime traffic, the Outer Cape is quite blessed with bike trails. Off-road, the sandy, pine needle-covered trails of miles of fire roads traverse the National Seashore on the ocean side, from Wellfleet all the way on up to Truro. Bikers with thick wheels, stamina, and ambition will find hours of uninterrupted time with which to ride these trails, coming upon little other life than squirrels, birds, and the occasional deer. Provincetown is very bike friendly, as cycling is a far better way to get around than driving in summer. There are several stunning trails within the grounds of the Province Lands that will take riders through dunes and forest and alongside salt marshes.
Martha's Vineyard has superb terrain for biking -- you can pick up a map that shows the island's many dedicated bike paths from the chamber of commerce. Several shops throughout the island rent bicycles, many of them close to the ferry terminals.
Charter boats and party boats (per-head fees, rather than the charters' group rates) fish in season for bluefish, tuna, marlin, and mako and blue sharks. Throughout the year there's bottom fishing for flounder, tautog, scup, fluke, cod, and pollack.
The Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce's Sportsman's Guide provides fishing regulations, surf-fishing access locations, a map of boat-launching facilities, and more. The state Division of Fisheries and Wildlife has a book with dozens of maps of Cape ponds; the maps are also available on the Division's Web site. Remember, you'll need a license for freshwater fishing, available for a nominal fee at bait-and-tackle shops. Molly Benjamin's fishing column in the Friday Cape Cod Times gives the latest information about fishing on the Cape -- what's being caught and where.
The Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce produces a "Golf Map of Cape Cod," locating dozens of courses on the Cape. Summer greens fees range from $25 to about $100.
