The Marion Art Center -- comprising two galleries; a small, intimate theater; and a studio -- offers classes in art, music, dance, and theater arts year-round to both children and adults. Local artists have shows here, and four major theatrical productions are performed each year. In the late 19th century, during Marion's "Gilded Age," many famous writers and artists -- including Henry James, Charles Dana Gibson, Sanford White, and the Barrymores -- came to the area to share ideas and each other's company.
