This is one of the Cape's best cozy country restaurants, with a consistently good kitchen where creative American food is prepared with elaborate sauces and herb combinations. For instance, organic chicken is served with an intense preserved-lemon and fresh thyme sauce, and exquisitely grilled veal chops come with a dense red wine-and-portobello mushroom sauce. In fall, look for the specialty game dishes, including venison and quail. Try to reserve a table in the more intimate Garden Room. The expansive wine list is excellent. A nice Sunday brunch is served from mid-October to June.
