A Little Inn on Pleasant Bay

Fodor's Review:
Run by sisters Sandra Zeller and Pamela Adam and Sandra's husband, Bernd Zeller -- all of whom have extensive corporate and hospitality backgrounds -- this gorgeously decorated inn occupies a 1798 building set on a bluff beside a cranberry bog, across Route 28 from the bay for which it's named. The main house has four rooms, and two adjoining nearby buildings contain another five rooms. Many of the accommodations look clear out to the bay, and others face the lush gardens. The Mercury room has French doors leading out to a private garden patio, and the spacious Wianno room is warmed by a fireplace and has a lovely sitting area. The roomy, modern bathrooms are among the nicest of any hotel on the Cape. The breakfast buffet includes a dazzling variety of fresh fruits, baked goods, smoked fish, cold cuts, fine cheeses, yogurts, cereals, and other treats. It's more substantial than many full breakfasts, and you can enjoy it while sitting on the pretty patio, admiring Pleasant Bay in the distance. Pros: Peaceful, pastoral setting with great water views; abundant buffet breakfast; spacious, well-appointed rooms. Cons: Not an in-town location; must drive a distance to either Orleans or Chatham.
