Crowne Pointe Historic Inn and Spa

$$$-$$$$, Provincetown

User Rating: ***** 4.8

Fodor's Review:

Created meticulously from six different buildings, this inn has not left a single detail unattended. Owners Tom Walter and David Sanford skillfully mix luxury and comfort. Period furniture and antiques fill the common areas and rooms; a queen-size bed is the smallest you'll find, dressed in 300-thread-count linens, with treats on the pillow for nightly turndown service. Many rooms have fireplaces: in one room, you can view the flames from your bed or the whirlpool tub. Penthouse suites have two floors of living space with a full kitchen, and many rooms have private balconies with water or town views. The grounds are accented with brick pathways, flowers, and trees. Start the day with a full, hot breakfast, then graze on freshly baked treats and wine and cheese in the afternoon -- there's also an excellent restaurant, the Bistro at Crowne Pointe. In the handsome, full-service Shui Spa, you might opt for such soothing treatments as Shiatsu massage, craniosacral therapy, or the honey-almond body polish. Pros: Great on-site amenities such as spa and restaurant, posh and luxurious room decor, professional and well-trained staff. Cons: Among the highest rates in town, significant minimum-stay requirements in summer, contemporary vibe lacks historic quaintness of some older properties.

Great Visit Great People Great Location

Posted by williesmithtx from Texas on 1/31/08

We stayed at the Crowne Pointe a couple of weeks ago. It is a wonderful facility. Staff were excellent and very friendly. The rooms are really well appointed and ours had a full kitchen which makes it nice to keep a few breakfast/snack items on hand. Fruit and iced tea available at the front desk for free. It is a health conscious facility so no smoking at all within the facility which makes nice, clean smelling rooms. The spa treatments were excellent (we had a couples massage) The restaurant is romantic and the food was very yummy. We will certainly stay here whenever we visit Provincetown.

My parner and I just returned from a stay at the Crowne Pointe Historic Inn in Provincetown - the accommodations, spa and dining were all over the top. I'd put the entire property miles above the rest in town and I've been going to town for years!

I've been traveling to Provincetown for years.. I will now only stay at Crowne Pointe. It is consistant, professional, and overall just an outstanding establishment. The spa is over the top and the restaurant now one of the best in town. Its a must stay... As for the Credit Card person's comments.. funny I've been staying there for years and never had a problem... I'd take my business there again and again!

Double Charged Credit Card Nightmare

Posted by HelloSunshine from Boston, MA on 4/6/07

I took my parents to Crowne Pointe during our stay in Provincetown as a treat, but it turned into a nightmare. We stayed for 1 night, and upon checkout, they double charged my credit card for our stay. It was a big hassle to get it straightened out. Jon Digangi, the person that checked us out, was a extremely discourteous on the phone when I called to resolve the matter the next day - first condescending to me as though I didn't "understand" my bill, then after faxing over my cc statement, he denied there was an issue and hung up on me. Eventually I was put in touch with the hotel's accountant Diane, who acknowledged that I'd been overcharged, and said she would take care of it and call me back. It's been two days now and I have yet to hear from her. After several more fruitless calls to their hotel staff, my only recourse at this point is to dispute the extra charge through my credit card company. This was supposed to be fun! I strongly recommend you take your business elsewhere.

How Grand!

Posted by randomguy from Ft Lauderdale on 3/23/07

We had high expectations for our stay at Crowne Pointe. The location is central. The staff is friendly and knowledgably. The mix of antiques creates a wonderful ambience. The Bistro at Crowne Pointe is one on the best in a town of wonderful restaurants. Our room was spacious and well appointed .The fireplace in our room cut threw the gloom of a rainy day. The question is what makes a great hotel? Stay at Crowne Pointe and you will have the answer. PS don t miss the spa its a jewel!

What a great vacation we just had at Crowne Pointe Inn. My wife and I spent 4 days and it was great. The location of the Inn is perfect as you can walk to everything from this location. We had dinner twice at the Bistro and our dinner was wonderful and they have a great wine list. We purchsed a spa package and the treatments were excellent and the spa was very relaxing and clean. We just called and made our spring reservations.

THE Place to stay!

Posted by Abe from Los Angeles on 9/8/06

As expected, The Crowne Pointe is impeccable. We stayed here for two nights between our wedding and honeymoon and will always remember the gorgeous room and perfect service. Our suite had a view of the town. The beds were sumptuous and we felt like a king and queen. The concierge was especially helpful and, at very late notice, garnered reservations at two of the most outstanding restaurants in town. The hotel was perfectly clean and the staff was wonderfully friendly and helpful. If you want to stay in luxury in Provincetown, this is the place!

Never Wanted To Leave

Posted by Ken from Ft. Lauderdale on 8/27/06

As we headed up the hill, the Crowne Pointe Inn's magnificent main house came into view and I knew we had made the right choice for accommodations in Provincetown. Pulling into the parking lot we were greeted by a friendly staff, eager and ready to help us check-in. The on-site parking is convenient. The staff showed us to our suite through the manicured grounds of the hotel property and we were more than pleased with the space we were shown. Luxury amenities were waiting from the flat screen TV to the fire place and the whirlpool tub; it was romantic and sophisticated all at once. The bed was a slice of heaven with crisp, clean linens and pillows to die for. I particularly enjoyed the complimentary breakfast each morning with its selection of freshly baked pastries and fresh fruit. It was a perfect way to start off a day of sightseeing, which was only outdone by the free daily wine and cheese tastings that greeted us upon our return in the evening. We also spent a day in the Inn's Shui Spa and were once again made to feel like royalty. Its Asian decor is a calming contrast to the hustle and bustle of town, and our treatments (massage and facial) were first-rate performed by a knowledgeable and attentive staff. We made a day of it, pampering ourselves with a healthy and tasty Spa lunch, which was waiting for us upon completion of our first treatment. Dinner at the Inn's restaurant was equally as satisfying with its inventive dishes that stimulate the palate and a wine list worthy of its surroundings. I give this property my highest recommendation and will return next year. In fact, our reservation are already on the books!

Worth getting engaged over!

Posted by Roger from DC on 3/18/06

I asked my fiancee to marry me at Crowne Pointe, and I can't think of a more perfect place I could have done it. The room was perfect. Very nice ambience, amazing bath/shower, private balconoy, terrific bed. Couldn't ask for anything more. The restaurant was amazing. We had the lamb and the filet, and each was perfectly cooked and seasoned, with flawless accompaniments. Starters and desserts were likewise yummy. The breakfast the following morning was the best I've had in years. French toast soaked overnight, with fresh fruit and chicken-apple sausage. But the best part about the inn was the service. Always warm and accomodating: I asked for champagne and strawberries to placed in our room during dinner, and it was carried out elegantly and without reminder. I can not wait to go back to Crowne Pointe.

We just returned from four days at Crowne Pointe. This place is wonderful, clean friendly and reasonable. having stayed at many places in provincetown, we have finally found a place to return to many times over. The spa, our room and the food were all great. Located in the center of town you walk to everything. They have a great concierge who really cares about the guests and gives you the inside scoop on what to do and where to go. Dont miss this place.

We had high expectations for our stay at Crowne Pointe. The location is the best in town. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. The furnishings and common areas create a wonderful ambience. The restaurant is one on the best in a town of wonderful restaurants. Our room was spacious and well appointed. The fireplace in our room cut threw the gloom of a rainy day. The spa was just what we needed to unwind. We spent time in the sauna and steamroom to unwind. The question is what makes a great Inn? Stay at Crowne Pointe Inn and you will have the answer.
