$-$$$, Harwich
Fodor's Review:
Actually a bit closer to Dennisport than to Harwich and Harwich Port, this well-maintained early-19th-century sea captain's home sits along a quiet street in a peaceful neighborhood a little less than a mile north of the sea. Innkeepers Marilyn and Tom Hull run this low-key, reasonably priced B&B and also rent out a pair of one-bedroom cottages with full kitchens and living rooms with double futons (so each can sleep a total of four); the cottages are available weekly in summer and for shorter stays the rest of the year. Rooms are modestly but tastefully appointed, with country quilts and a smattering of antiques. A big plus here is the large outdoor pool and attractive patio. Pros: Set back off busy Route 28 yet not far from area attractions, good location for exploring Dennis and Harwich areas, large outdoor pool. Cons: Many rooms accessed via steep stairs, room decor could use a little freshening, though comfortable, not an in-town or beachfront location.
