Captain's House Inn

$$$-$$$$, Chatham

User Rating: ** 1.8

Fodor's Review:

A Victorian tile ceiling, wide-board floors, and elaborate moldings and wainscoting are just part of what makes Jill and James Meyer's inn one of the Cape's most popular. Each room has its own personality; some are quite large, and all have fireplaces. The Hiram Harding Room, in the bow-roof Captain's Cottage, has 200-year-old hand-hewn ceiling beams, a wall of raised walnut paneling, and a large, central working fireplace. Suites in the former stables are spacious and have hot tubs, fireplaces, TV-DVDs, mini-refrigerators, and private patios or balconies. A young staff of British hospitality students serves an over-the-top full breakfast each morning and high tea in the afternoon. The herb and flower gardens and neatly trimmed lawns are stunning. Pros: Elegant lodging in authentic historic setting, beautiful grounds ideal for croquet (accoutrements provided), pampered service. Cons: Many rooms accessed via steep stairs, not an in-town or beachfront location.

This is an average place that is way overpriced...rooms are average...breakfast average...not worth the high prices they charge.
