Boston: Children in Boston

Children in Boston

Boston has plenty of child-friendly tourist sites, from the Children's Museum to the Franklin Park Zoo. Many places have regularly scheduled children's activities. The Museum of Science, for instance, has a variety of live presentations and IMAX and Planetarium shows several times a day. The Museum of Fine Arts has daily children's art workshops and cultural programs. The Children's Museum and the New England Aquarium both have special daily presentations, shows, or activities.

The Boston Parents Paper (www.boston.parenthood.com) lists events and resources, and can be found (for free!) at libraries, supermarkets, museums, children's shops, and nursery schools. Fodor's Around Boston with Kids (available in bookstores everywhere) can help you plan your days together.

Babysitting

Boston's Best Babysitters specializes in hotel service child care. There's a $35 agency fee and hourly rate of $11 per hour for the first child, $1 per hour per additional child, and a $10 transportation fee after dark. The agency accepts American Express, MasterCard, and Visa. Only cash is accepted for sitting services (paid directly to the client), and there is a three-hour minimum charge.
