Fodor's Review:
"She may be old, but she still has a lot of class," a reader wrote of this Boston classic. Indeed. You can bemoan the small rooms, but you can't deny the lush, historic feel of this grand hotel, created in 1927 by renowned hotelier E. M. Statler. Original plaster moldings and a chandeliered gilt-and-cream lobby grace this property; guest rooms are decorated in taupes and pastels with dark cherrywood furnishings. Tiny though they are, the rooms are comfy, with beds topped by puffy down comforters and lush linens. The less said about the bathrooms, however, the better. On the top floor, the concierge level, rooms are slightly larger and have access to the Towers lounge. Todd English's Bonfire is a Latin American-style steak house, and Whiskey Park is a staple in the chic bar scene; don't miss Finale, the go-to place for decadent desserts. Elaborate afternoon tea is offered in the lobby café, and room service is available around the clock. Pros: Pretty lobby, great restaurants on the Park Plaza block, helpful concierge. Cons: Rooms are cramped, bathrooms are small, hotel's breakfast buffet is "expensive and mediocre," some say.
