Prefer the comforts of a full-service hotel to the coziness of an old inn? This hotel, opened in 2002, has been discovered by families of students at nearby colleges -- there are about a dozen schools within 5 mi of here, including Boston University and Boston College -- who like the fact that they can treat the kids to dinner at one of several funky Coolidge Corner eateries, then unwind in the indoor pool and hot tub or hit the gym. The T is right outside the door, as are 15 or so restaurants. (An on-site eatery is open for breakfast only.) And in the Stuff You Won't Find Everywhere Department: rooms with Sabbath locks on the door for Jewish guests. This property is also more child-friendly than some, with babysitting (they can hook you up) and several connecting rooms. Pros: Indoor pool, close to T station. Cons: Don't expect rollicking nightlife nearby, staff can be indifferent.
