Barking Crab Restaurant

¢-$$, Seafood, South Boston

User Rating: *** 2.8

Fodor's Review:

It is, believe it or not, a seaside clam shack plunk in the middle of Boston, with a stunning view of the downtown skyscrapers. An outdoor lobster tent in summer, in winter it retreats indoors to a warmhearted version of a waterfront dive, with chestnuts roasting on a cozy woodstove. Look for the classic New England clambake -- chowder, lobster, steamed clams, corn on the cob -- or the spicier crab boil.

OK, I Guess, For What It Is...

Elegant dining, it's not, and the food was OK, but there are plenty of better seafood restaurants in town. It's a overgrown clam shack with an outdoor picnic-type area for summertime slumming. Food was OK, limited menu and not particularly attentive service. Plastic cutlery and paper plates here. If you like cracking open lobsters and crab legs with a rock, this is your place! I'm sure it's nice enough here to while away a summer afternoon, though, but it's not for romantic dining!
