If you prefer quiet and old-fashioned, you'll feel right at home in this historic, antiques-laden inn, within walking distance to lively Cleveland Circle. Built in 1907 as a wedding present for a wealthy Boston merchant's daughter, the Victorian-style building retains some original elements, like wood floors, paneled walls, and marble fireplaces. Each room is unique; one has hummingbird wallpaper, another a high canopy bed with steps. The room off the large living room is a favorite, with a four-poster bed, Oriental rug, cherry paneling, and working fireplace. Pros: Fresh fruit, pastries, snacks, and drinks are available all day; large living room with fireplace, leather couches, and porch with wicker cushioned rockers, are nice places to relax; two rooms have ultradeluxe (and superexpensive) Dux mattresses. Cons: Dust balls in the corners and ashes in the fireplaces -- just like home; it's a walk and a T ride to downtown Boston.

I stayed at this inn in April,2005 and the experience was wonderful. The staff is very accomdating, the romms are beautiful ans the food was very good. I highly recommend this inn.
