The Alley, just off Boston Common, packs several watering holes onto one cozy street for those wanting a late night without having to crisscross the city. With a mechanical bull and loud music, the Liquor Store (25 Boylston Pl. 617/357-6800. www.liquorstoreboston.com) is a place to check your inhibitions at the door. Sweetwater Café (3 Boylston Pl. 617/351-2515. www.sweetwatercafeboston.com) has a booming sound system and plenty of drink options.
