$$-$$$$, Downtown
Fodor's Review:
The high-ceilinged, post-and-beam boathouse sits on steel pilings jutting out into Boston Harbor, giving the lucky guests who stay here some of the largest rooms and the best views in Boston. The supersize rooms, at value-packed prices, have king or queen beds, cathedral ceilings, cozy sitting areas (some with pull-out leather couches), and remarkable views. Though it's a stone's throw from Faneuil Hall and the North End, you may not want to leave. Grab a room with a balcony -- worth the extra pennies -- and watch the luxury yachts and sailboats cruise into the harbor. The No. 210 penthouse has a huge wraparound deck; look one way to see the Boston skyline and city lights, turn the other for harbor and ocean views. Pros: Outside waterfront terrace is a great sitting area, airport water taxi picks up and drops off at the hotel dock, the 75-slip marina plays summer host to the opulent yachts of the visiting rich and famous -- makes for a good show. Cons: Bathrooms are basic, bedding and furnishings are moderate.
