Castle Street Cafe

$$-$$$, Contemporary, Great Barrington

User Rating: **** 3.8

Fodor's Review:

Chef-owner Michael Ballon's approach to food is to stress the freshest locally grown produce in simple, elegant recipes. Warm duck salad, wild king salmon with saffron, and portobello mushroom ravioli with wild mushroom sauce are some of the highlights. Hardwood floors and sleek furnishings, accented by rotating original local art, create a pleasing ambience and complement the eclectic fare. If you choose to sit at the bar, you can order from a menu of lighter fare.

Nice, and good value

I like the food at Castle Street very much. It tends towards fresh, and unpretentious dishes. The atmosphere is a little bit noisy, but casual. And the price is better than similar restaurants in the area, a very good value.
