The north side of Chicago is home to several of the city's most colorful, eclectic neighborhoods. History-rich Uptown was a once-thriving entertainment district, and you can take in the beautiful architecture and striking old marquees. Though it's been a bit gritty for decades, new condo developments and chains like Borders and Starbucks are revitalizing the area. The neighborhood is predominantly African-American, though there is a large Asian contingent, especially along Argyle Street, which is known as Little Saigon.
