By Ferry in Molokai

By Ferry

The Molokai Ferry crosses the channel every day between Lahaina (Maui) and Kaunakakai, making it easy for West Maui visitors to put Molokai on their itineraries. Keep in mind that the ferry is an older vessel that has had some mechanical difficulties in the past, and the crossing can be very rough in strong trade-wind weather, especially on the return trip. The 1 1/2-hour trip takes passengers but not cars, so arrange ahead of time for a car rental or tour at the arrival point. The easiest way to do this is to contact Molokai Outdoors, who will arrange your transportation and lodgings.
