Grave of Charles Lindbergh

Cemeteries, Hana

User Rating: **** 4.4

Fodor's Review:

The world-renowned aviator chose to be buried here because he and his wife, writer Anne Morrow Lindbergh, spent a lot of time living in the area in a home they'd built. He was buried here in 1974, next to Palapala Ho'omau Congregational Church. Since this is a churchyard, be considerate and leave everything exactly as you found it. Next to the churchyard on the ocean side is a small county park, a good place for a peaceful picnic.

Worth the trip to the end of the road

Posted by reluctant_adventurer from Missouri on 3/8/08

By the time you've experienced all the twists, turns, sites and sounds of the Road to Hana, you are ready for some tranquility. Lindbergh's grave is set in the tranquility of a church and park, and visitors have been respectful and reverent. Plan ahead--we're talking remote--we missed the turnoff the first time and it was 2 years before we returned to Maui and actually found the church.
