For a real slice of Haleiwa life, stop at Matsumoto's, a family-run business in a building dating from 1910, for shave ice in every flavor imaginable. For something different, order a shave ice with adzuki beans -- the red beans are boiled until soft, mixed with sugar, and then placed in the cone with the ice on top.
