Fodor's Review:
Ready for a beach break? Head straight on Kailua Road to the 35-acre, 2.5-mile long Kailua Beach Park, which many people consider the best on the island. South of the Kailua Beach is Lanikai, originally a summer beach house community for Oahu's wealthy; the beach here (there are public access trails) is narrow but less used. Both beaches have won Best Beach awards. Take Kailua Road to S. Kalaheo, turn right and continue as the road veers left, cross the bridge and enter the park on the left. To get to Lanikai, continue on as S. Kalaheo becomes Kawailoa, turn left at the dead end and enter the Aalapapa/Mokulua Drive loop. Park on the Mokulua and look for beach access.
