This is not your grandmother's department store restaurant. It's über-chef Alan Wong's more casual second spot, where chef de cuisine Neil Nakasone plays intriguing riffs on local food themes. We are frankly addicted to the spicy chili-fried soybeans and the Pineapple Room Baby Back Ribs. Pleasant surroundings and very professional service. Reservations recommended.

i have taken clients for lunch here visiting from out of town and they loved the pineapple room. it's located on the upper mall level of macy's (ala moana shopping center) so there is plenty of parking. reservations for lunch are a must, especially on weekends. evening's are much slower and you could walk in and get table with no problem. some of the items on the menu are similar to alan wong's on king st. there is a korean style short rib that they poke bamboo skewers into when serving. it looks a little bizarre with the skewers sticking out of the short ribs but the flavor of them with the ko choo jang sauce is outstanding. the dress is casual so they can accommodate the shoppers @ macy's. some of the curtains looked "tired" and were slightly torn from sun damage.

Excellent food and great prices. Macy's does not have a view but the other amenities far outweigh the view. We bring most of our visitors to Oahu to the Pinapple Room.
