The Urasenke Foundation

Arts / Performance Venues, Waikiki

Fodor's Review:

The teahouse here, built in 1951, was the first of its kind to be built outside Japan. If you are looking for a slice of serenity in Waikiki, this is a good place to find it. The meditative ceremony reflects the influences of centuries of Zen Buddhism. Each ceremony lasts approximately 30 minutes; you can participate or just watch. Wear something comfortable enough for sitting on the floor (but no shorts, please).
