Tennis

O'ahu has 181 public tennis courts that are free and open for play on a first-come, first-served basis; you're limited to 45 minutes of court time if others are waiting to play. Kapi'olani Park, on the Diamond Head end of Waikiki, has two tennis locations. The Diamond Head Tennis Center (3908 Paki Ave. 808/971-7150), near Kapi'olani Park, has nine courts open to the public. There are more than a dozen courts for play at Kapi'olani Tennis Courts (2748 Kalakaua Ave. 808/971-2510). The closest public courts to the 'ewa end of Waikiki are in Ala Moana Park (Ala Moana Blvd. 808/592-7031).

The Pacific Beach Hotel (2490 Kalakaua Ave., Waikiki, Honolulu. 808/922-1233) has rooftop tennis courts that are open to nonguests for a fee.

Forty-five minutes from Waikiki, on O'ahu's 'Ewa Plain, are two championship tennis courts at the Hawai'i Prince Golf Club (91-1200 Ft. Weaver Rd., 'Ewa Beach. 808/944-4567); shuttle service is available from the Hawai'i Prince Hotel Waikiki for hotel guests.
