Donatoni's at the Hilton Waikoloa Village

$$-$$$$, Italian, Kohala Coast

Fodor's Review:

This romantic restaurant overlooking the boat canal resembles an Italian villa and serves scrumptious dishes with the subtle sauces of northern Italy. From mahimahi with marinated artichokes to fettuccine with Hawaiian lobster, this intimate place sets out to please. Be sure to look over the Italian wine and champagne list.

Delicious Delightful Donatoni's

Fabulous food--we had appetizer, salad, two pasta dishes and dessert and they were all fabulous. Being from a place where magnificent Italian restaurants are plentiful, it takes a lot to impress us--well, we were--from start to finish. Magnifico!

High price for lousy food

Posted by Kerry from Philadelphia, PA on 9/9/06

While the atmosphere and service were good, the food here was the worst we've had on the islands. I had a simple pasta dish. It was LOADED with garlic--which wouldn't have been a problem if it was fresh or good garlic. My boyfriend had the veal marsala, which was also a must-miss. The salads were only lettuce with some tomatoes which was shocking with all of the great fresh greens on the island. The bread was the best part--and it was only average. We thought maybe it was an off night, but when we asked around the consensus was bad food and high prices.
