Having enjoyed its heyday during the Confederacy, this property built in 1859 is now on the National Register of Historic Places and has been carefully restored to reflect what it was like a century ago. Rooms have antique furnishings and claw-foot bathtubs. The restaurant and bar is under new (and very friendly) ownership, and the cooked-to-order breakfast includes a hot specialty item and toasted coconut bread. Local seafood dominates the lunch and dinner menus. Pros: two blocks from the gulf, pleasant staff. Cons: no gulf views.
