The major area theme parks, including those in Walt Disney World, are open 365 days a year. Opening times vary but generally hover around 9. Certain attractions within the parks may not open until 10 or 11 AM, however, and parks usually observe shorter hours during the off-seasons in January, February, April, May, September, and October. In general, the longest days are during prime summer months and over the year-end holidays, when the Magic Kingdom may be open as late as 10 or 11, later on New Year's Eve; Epcot is open until 9 or 9:30 in the World Showcase area and at several Future World attractions, the Studios until 7 or 8:30. At other times, the Magic Kingdom closes around 7 or 8–but there are variations, so call ahead. Most of the year, the Animal Kingdom closes at 5, though during peak holiday seasons it may open at 8 and close at 7 or 8.
The parking lots open at least an hour before the parks do. If you arrive at the Magic Kingdom turnstiles before the official opening time, you can often breakfast in a restaurant on Main Street, which usually opens before the rest of the park, and be ready to dash to one of the popular attractions in other lands at Rope Drop, the Magic Kingdom's official opening time.
Hours at Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are 9 or 10 to 5 daily (until 7–occasionally 10–in summer).
The shops at Downtown Disney stay open as late as 11 PM in summer and during holidays.
You can check exact opening and closing times by calling the parks directly or checking their Web sites.
The Extra Magic Hours program gives Disney resort guests free early and late-night admission to certain parks on specified days–call ahead for information about each park's "magic hours" days to plan your early- and late-visit strategies.
