$$-$$$, Italian, Altamonte Springs
Fodor's Review:
If you didn't know about the delicious Northern Italian cooking on offer here, the nondescript exterior and strip-mall location of this place might lead you to skip it. You would be making a mistake to do so. Inside the restaurant you'll find a warm and friendly neighborhood Italian eatery, serving classic Northern Italian pasta dishes with their own special twist -- lobster ravioli, rigatoni with eggplant, mozzarella and basil, or fettucine with braised rabbit. A huge local following for this trattoria may come in part from the antipasto plate, which turns out to be "plates," as your waiter brings you an endless stream of tasty offerings that include roasted peppers, Italian sausage, polenta and bruschetta with an assortment of tangy toppings -- a filling meal in itself for $8.50 per person. Not surprisingly, the desserts are dreamy as well, including an excellent tiramisu and a rich and creamy cannoli. Part of the charm of the place is a big, dark-wood bar, behind which you'll find dozens of bottles of fine Italian wines.
