Del Frisco

$$-$$$$, Steak, Central Orlando

User Rating: **** 3.6

Fodor's Review:

Locals like this quiet, uncomplicated steak house, which delivers carefully prepared, corn-fed beef and attentive service. When your steak arrives, the waiter asks you to cut into it and check that it was cooked as you ordered. The menu is simple: T-bones, porterhouses, filet mignon, and such seafood as Maine lobster, Alaskan crab, and a good lobster bisque. There's also an excellent veal osso buco. Bread is baked daily at the restaurant, and the bread pudding, with a Jack Daniels sauce, is worth a try. There's a piano bar next to the dining room.

Not Impressed

We went to Del Frisco to celebrate our son's 21st birthday. We were a party of 4. It started out bad when we were seated. They escorted us outside and down a long sidewalk to have us sit in their separate dining room. Apparently they bought the building next door. It was very crammed with low ceilings and a musty smell. The service started out slow and remained slow the whole evening. We ordered a bottle of champagne to celebrate son's 21st birthday. When the server did come to refill glasses, she ignored his. It was a very uncomfortable experience. Would probably not go back.

Seasons

The porterhouse and filet mignon with asparagus and creamed corned were all outstanding and the waiter did ask us to cut into the steak to check that it was cooked to order. The bread is hot, fresh and scrumptious. When we were there, the "Maine" lobster was Australian lobster and the bread pudding with Jack Daniels sauce was not offered as a dessert, but the chocolate mousse was excellent. We saw the owner go to another table to check if everything was good for customers. It is quiet and uncomplicated ... only table cloths and salt & pepper on the table, yet dress better than business casual. Everything was a la carte so it was expensive, but worth it!
