On 1,500 acres just outside Disney's north entrance, this spectacular resort has a private lake, three golf courses, and miles of trails for bicycling, jogging, and horseback riding. The 800,000-gallon pool has a 45-foot slide and is fed by 12 waterfalls. Tropical birds and plants and Chinese sculptures fill the 18-story atrium. All rooms have tasteful rattan furniture and a private balcony overlooking either the Lake Buena Vista Area or the pool. Villas have fireplaces and whirlpool baths. Accommodations are divided between the hotel and the Villas of Grand Cypress (1 N. Jacaranda Dr., Lake Buena Vista, 32836. 407/239-1234 or 800/835-7377), with 200 villas. Pros: great Sunday brunch at La Coquina; huge pool; lots of recreation options, including nearby equestrian center. Cons: pricey; inconvenient to Universal Orlando and downtown Orlando.

Not a Five-Star Resort

This hotel is nice, but not wonderful. It is an average hotel set among very nice grounds.
The food is okay, and that really describes just about every aspect of the hotel.

As Good As It Gets in Orlando

By far the best resort in Orlando and maybe in Florida. Restaurants, pools, guest rooms, golf, everything is top notch. They had a promotion, pay $310 for the first 3 and get the 4th night free which was a better deal than Disney hotles.

Great Resort Hotel

All the Hyatt hotels I stayed boast modern construction with an atrium from ground to top, and Grand Cypress is no exception. The room has a lot more Floridian resort flair than city sleek. The pool is really nice. We had a tropical theme corporate function next to it in the night and the ambience is incredible. Our room overlooks the lake. The staff are really friendly. Everything is very clean. I had a chance to talk to the general manager once. Very gracious and classy guy. Great facility for large or small conferences. They also have an equestian center for horseback riding in addition to golf courses, beach, biking trail, lake boating, etc. There are free shuttles to nearby Disney parks, Seaworld, and Universal Studio. We stayed at Disney resorts before. It cost a fortune to go to non-Disney parks if we didn't have a rental car. This hotel is wonderful all around for business, families or honeymooners. It's very close to Downtown Disney for night life. Of course it's a bit more than Hampton Inn, but the accomodation, service and convenience make it well worth the $$.
