Amura

$$-$$$$, Japanese, Central Orlando

Fodor's Review:

A quiet respite from the vibrant -- and loud -- bars around it, Amura, Japanese for "Asian village," is comfortable and sophisticated. The sushi menu has about 40 choices, from aoyagi (round clams) to yellowtail tuna. For a taste of everything, try the Tokyo Plate, piled high with chicken teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, ginger pork, California roll, and tempura veggies. The Mexican roll -- with avocado, shrimp, and jalapeño peppers -- makes for an unusual appetizer. The Sand Lake Road location has a big, performance-style dining room, where the tables all surround grills and the chef cooks while you watch. The original downtown location has a quieter, more familylike atmosphere.
