Guayacan

$$, Latin American, Little Havana

Fodor's Review:

Offering counter service and a comfortable if simple dining room, this family-run place serves all the traditional Nicaraguan foods to a lot of traditional Nicaraguans: the signature grilled churrasco steak, a sticky sweet tres leches (a dessert made with three different types of milk), and rich, mellow Victoria beer. A simple half-chicken or a boneless strip steak served with three lusty, spicy sauces (pico de gallo, chimichurri, and a basic hot sauce) sparks the palate. All come with gallo pinto (red beans with rice and plenty of seasoning) and a good smattering of local politics, culture, and around-town happenings.
