¢-$$, South Beach/Miami Beach
Fodor's Review:
Avant-garde Boston architect Carlos Zapata updated this stylish 1939 nautical-deco building by Igor Polevitzky, and the place is full of his distinctive touches. The two-story lobby sweeps into a secluded courtyard and is framed by an indoor waterfall. The mezzanine-level pool has portholes that allow courtyard strollers an underwater view of the swimmers. As with other Rubell properties (the Beach House and the Greenview), guest rooms are minimalist in design, with creative touches like cucumber-scented toiletries and fresh fruit. Pros: Great location on Lincoln Road and a fun pool. Cons: Small bathrooms and erratic service.
