$$$$, Key Biscayne
Fodor's Review:
There is probably no other place in Miami where slowness is lifted to a fine art. On Key Biscayne, there are no pressures, no nightlife, and the dining choices are essentially limited to the hotel. In this kind of setting, you'll appreciate the Ritz brand of pampering. Need something to do? The "tequilier" at the seaside Cantina Beach will educate you on the finer points of his native region's drink. Hitting the spa? In 1 of 21 treatment rooms, try the 42 Movement Minerale Massage. An 11-court tennis "garden" with tennis butler, a private beach, and beachside water sports are other options. In-room luxuries like robes, slippers, fine linens and toiletries, and scales are of course expected. The club level offers five food presentations a day, and the Ritz Kids club has full- and half-day, and Saturday night, programs. Borrow bikes here to explore Billy Baggs park and its lighthouse. Pros: Top tennis facility, private beach, and a good family retreat. Cons: Beach is gray sand, and you have to drive to Miami for nightlife.
