$$$, Downtown
Fodor's Review:
The downtown skyline continues to reach new heights of luxury with its latest steel-and-glass tower -- a 36-story spire housing the Conrad, the country's first new-build, freestanding Conrad Hotel (a luxury offshoot of the Hilton brand). Part of a mixed-use development that includes office space and an upmarket retail center, the hotel welcomes guests at a spectacular 25th-floor Sky Lobby overlooking Biscayne Bay, then pampers them with high-end amenities like flat-screen satellite TV, Bulgari toiletries, and Anichini linens. A health club and spa, extensive meeting space, pool terrace, and fine dining round out the amenities. Pros: Tennis courts on-site and great city views. Cons: Pool is inconveniently located on rooftop across the garage, and more business than leisure.
